Question: What environmental tests have been done on your Xtreme Turf sports products?
Answer: Act Global Sports has received the ISO 14001 certificate for environmental management and has conducted extensive testing for FIFA norms, DIN environmental standards and ASTM measurements. As a member of the United Nations Global Compact and the U.S. Greenscapes program, we highly encourage greater environmental responsibility. ACT Global further encourages its employees to implement the best practices in energy and resource efficiency, waste reduction, renewable resources, and the use of cleaner production.
Question: Is this the same as field turf or astro turf?
Answer: No, those are brand names owned by other companies in the artificial turf industry. We refer to our product as artificial turf, synthetic turf, artificial grass or synthetic grass. Act Global Sports' brands are Xtreme Turf and Xtreme Lawn.
Question: Is the synthetic lawn dog, pet and animal friendly?
Answer: Yes, in fact dogs and other pets love rolling around on synthetic lawn. Act Global Sports' line Xtreme Lawn feels natural and looks great at the same time. The polyethylene fibers and infill used in our turf systems are both non-toxic so you don't have to worry about your pets getting sick. Urine seeps right through the drainage system and does not leave any significant orders or stains. Polyolefin fibers are among the most stain resistant fibres known to man. Most stains are moisture borne and polyolefin tends not to absorb moisture. You may remove waste as you usually do and clean the artificial grass with water or rain.
Question: Should my children play on it?
Answer: Yes, artificial grass is safe for children to play on. You many have read or heard a lot of commotion about artificial turf containing toxic cancerous material. ACT Global Sports' products have undergone and met strict environmental testing to include lead, mercury, zinc, cadmium, chromium, tin, toxicity, EOX, and DOC. The issue of toxic materials is related to the crumb rubber infill which is composed of recycled tires. We offer varying all weather turfs that do not require the use of rubber infill. Our landscaping solutions combine the appearance and comfort of natural grass with the added benefit of a low maintenance solution, perfect for playgrounds and backyards.
Question: How well does it drain water after it rains?
Answer: Xtreme Turf is well known for excellent drainage properties. The water infiltration rate for this synthetic grass system (per British Standard 7044 Method 4 test) is 84 inches per hour. We can specify a drainage system so that once water drains through our turf in either a sports field, commercial landscaping or residential lawn application, it can flow to a run-off area to avoid any puddles or mud on the surface.
Question: How long does it last?
Answer: Once we engineer the right artificial turf system for the user, we conduct up to 60 independent lab tests to ensure we can proved the benefits of long-term quality. In addition we have implemented the Labosport Abrasion Testing to simulate 10 years of wear-and-tear. Whether your looking for sports field turf or synthetic grass our turf is built to last. We gladly offer a limited warranty on our sports field turf and landscape turf to give the customer long-term, worry-free, enjoyment.
Question: Will it fade in the sunlight over time?
Answer: The synthetic grass fibers have undergone the EN ISO 20105-A02 UV test and have been coated to protect and maintain its appearance and strength for years to come.
Question: Does it mildew?
Answer: It's very unlikely that mildew will grow on plastic pitches or simulated grass. Mildew is a fungus formed in warm damp surfaces. Since our simulated grass has a built in drainage layer and does not absorb water, it should not form mildew.______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Question: What are your suggestions for cleaning agents?
Answer: Use can use a neutral detergent that has low suds, is alcohol free and is non-toxic for people or the environment. Please consider the odor effect – perhaps spray a small area first. Some have used Vinegar (25% vinegar and 75% water) which is very effective and Bleach (10% bleach and 90% water). Make sure the agents are rinsed to avoid skin irritation.______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Question: Can you help me understand about any fire testing?
Answer: ACT Global Sports has undergone the American System for Testing Materials, ASTM D2859 Flammability Pill testing and passed. This test determines the flammability of artificial turf or other textile floor surfaces by ignition from a single source such as a match, under controlled conditions. Of course, proper safety measures should always be used when handling any flammable material.
Question: Will weeds grow through synthetic turf?
Answer: No. Our synthetic turf system is composed of several layers. The backing layer is rather thick so weeds cannot pass through. Though, you may see several instances where weeds will grow around the edges and those can be easily managed.
