ACT Global Sports recently completed a local community sports field for the city of Round Rock. The new Xtreme Turf synthetic field at Buck Egger Park is the first of its kind for the city. The field, funded through a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), provides a quality sports surface for community members to enjoy. In addition to the play areas, Round Rock is allocating the grant towards construction of the parking lot, sidewalks and lighting system.

The two-tone green, durable turf is an upgrade from the previous worn natural grass and dirt area. The Xtreme Turf system is comparable in quality and performance to some of the top professional fields around the world. As part of our standing as a FIFA Preferred Producer of football turf, our systems undergo rigorous scientific testing to meet the highest performance standards.

We are proud to be a part of a successful, local project in our own neighborhood. Safe parks and playing surfaces can have a positive physical and social impact on a community. We applaud the City of Round Rock for their creative funding solution to deliver a new level of enjoyment to the Round Rock community.

ACT Global Completes Aviation Turf Project for US Air Force Academy http://actglobalsports.com/blog/?p=688 http://actglobalsports.com/blog/?p=688#comments Tue, 08 May 2012 20:04:28 +0000 Administrator http://actglobalsports.com/blog/?p=688 AvTurf

ACT Global Sports is excited to announce a recent synthetic aviation turf surface installation at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The project was completed with our partner AvTurf. At 1.4 million square feet, it is the world’s largest single area of synthetic turf.

The project was initiated following the Academy’s recent investment in a new fleet of TG-16 sailplanes. Vibrations during landing, ruts and depressions can cause harm to the planes. The firm, durable artificial turf reduces these hazards and greatly improves the life expectancy of the fleet. The use of AvTurf also aids in preventing erosion, wildlife management, reduction of foreign object debris/damage, increased water drainage and reduced maintenance. The Federal Aviation Administration has identified AvTurf as a tool to alleviate visibility issues for pilots during aircraft movements.

The team at ACT Global is proud to have been chosen to work on such a prestigious project as a training runway for the Air Force Academy.

ACT Global Sports Supports Earth Day 2012 http://actglobalsports.com/blog/?p=675 http://actglobalsports.com/blog/?p=675#comments Fri, 20 Apr 2012 23:05:11 +0000 Administrator http://actglobalsports.com/blog/?p=675 EarthDay_photo
Synthetic turf manufacturer donates trees to Carbonfund.org’s Million Tree Challenge for Earth Day 2012.

Austin, Texas (April 20, 2012) – As a socially-conscious company, ACT Global Sports is committed to maintaining a sustainable business model and reducing its environmental footprint. This year the company will honor Earth Day 2012 by donating trees to be planted as part of Carbonfund.org’s Million Tree Challenge.

Carbonfund.org launched the Million Tree Challenge on Earth Day 2010, and hopes to reach its goal of one million trees planted by the end of 2012. In celebration of this year’s Earth Day, Carbonfund.org has organized a “three-for-two” promotion, in which the company pledges to plant one tree for every two donated by it’s CarbonFree® partners. The trees are planted in formal, verified tree-planting projects all over the world.

ACT Global Sports joined the CarbonFree® partner program in 2008. The program allows businesses to calculate, reduce and offset their carbon footprint through regular donations, which are used for reforestation and various clean energy projects.

John Baize, director for ACT Global Sports, said the company is proud to be part of the global, collaborative effort to help Carbonfund.org reach its goal of one million trees. “ACT Global chooses to support companies that can have a positive impact on our environment and society,” said Baize. “Carbonfund.org is an admirable organization and we are pleased to call them a partner.”

The three-for-two promotion is running through the end of April, but interested individuals and businesses can plant trees year round by visiting http://carbonfund.org/offset/trees.

ACT Global introduces woven technology for synthetic turf http://actglobalsports.com/blog/?p=665 http://actglobalsports.com/blog/?p=665#comments Thu, 27 Oct 2011 22:03:14 +0000 Administrator http://actglobalsports.com/blog/?p=665 Woven

During the 2011 FSB international trade show in Germany, ACT Global Sports introduced the latest innovation in the artificial turf industry. Alongside a strategic alliance with Dywilan, ACT Global launches the breakthrough woven technology for football synthetic turf. The Xtreme Turf WX50 revolutionary system consists of Xtreme grass fibers locked into a woven backing system. This manufacturing method is unique to all of the previous generations of synthetic grass.

“The locking in of the pile in the basic triple W formation is tremendous. We are extremely excited to introduce this breakthrough technology to the world of synthetic sports turf after years of development,” proclaims Wil Ditzel, Director of ACT Global Sports.

With the growing concern for synthetic turf manufacturers to be “green” and environmentally safe, Xtreme Turf WX50 is taking a significant step in the right direction.

GOAL Programme – Zimbabwe Football http://actglobalsports.com/blog/?p=617 http://actglobalsports.com/blog/?p=617#comments Wed, 17 Aug 2011 22:58:18 +0000 Administrator http://actglobalsports.com/blog/?p=617

Football in Zimbabwe

Football is clearly the number one sport in Zimbabwe, both in terms of the number of active players and attendances at matches. The Zimbabwean national team is currently among the Top 10 in Africa, mainly due to their many appearances in international competitions organised by FIFA, CAF and COSAFA (Confederation of South African Football Associations) at senior and junior level, as well as in women’s football. In Group 6 of the qualifying round for the African Cup of Nations 2004, Zimbabwe finished second behind Mali despite having the same number of points. Their inferior goal difference proved to be crucial in the end. Zimbabwe have won the COSAFA Cup once (2000), and the national youth team has won the COSAFA Cup twice. The women’s team is among the Top 5 in Africa and qualified for the Final of the COSAFA Women’s Cup in 2002. Over 20 Zimbabwean players currently play professional football in South Africa. Other players have made the breakthrough in Europe, including Peter Ndlovu (Sheffield United, England) and Banjani Mwaruwaru (Auxerre, France). George Shaya has been crowned Zimbabwe Player of the Year five times.

Second Goal project

On 2 June 2009, the Goal Bureau approved the Zimbabwe Football Association’s second project, which was necessary to complete and renovate the infrastructures constructed as part of the country’s first Goal project. The improvements made include the completion of the earthwork and construction of a football pitch, the construction of dressing rooms, floodlighting, and improving access routes to the technical centre.
